9/29/2010 Assistant attorney general blogs against gay student body president
For nearly six months, Andrew Shirvell, an assistant attorney general for the state of Michigan, has waged an internet campaign against college student Chris Armstrong, the openly gay student assembly president at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. Using the online moniker "Concerned Michigan Alumnus," Shirvell launched his blog in late April. "Welcome to 'Chris Armstrong Watch,'" Shirvell wrote in his inaugural blog post. "This is a site for concerned University of Michigan alumni, students, and others who oppose the recent election of Chris Armstrong -- a RADICAL HOMOSEXUAL ACTIVIST, RACIST, ELITIST, & LIAR -- as the new head of student government."

12/27/2009 Source: Terror suspect's father tried to warn authorities
The father -- identified by a family source as Umaru Abdul Mutallab -- contacted the U.S. Embassy "a few weeks ago" saying his son, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, had "become radicalized," the senior administration official, who is familiar with the case, told CNN.

Abdulmutallab was granted a multiple-year, multiple-entry tourist visa at the U.S. Embassy in London in June 2008, the administration official said. He was a student in London at the time, and there was "no derogatory information that would have prevented him from getting a visa," the official said.

11/21/2009 Medical Marijuana: No Longer Just for Adults
At the Peace in Medicine Healing Center in Sebastopol, the wares on display include dried marijuana -- featuring brands like Kryptonite, Voodoo Daddy and Train Wreck -- and medicinal cookies arrayed below a sign saying, “Keep Out of Reach of Your Mother.” The warning tells a story of its own: some of the center’s clients are too young to buy themselves a beer. Several Bay Area doctors who recommend medical marijuana for their patients said in recent interviews that their client base had expanded to include teenagers with psychiatric conditions including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. “It’s not everybody’s medicine, but for some, it can make a profound difference,” said Valerie Corral, a founder of the Wo/Men’s Alliance for Medical Marijuana, a patients’ collective in Santa Cruz that has two dozen minors as registered clients.

1/6/2009 Congress' plan would let AG 'ban guns at will': 2nd Amendment critics are 'ready to run wild'
A perfect storm is developing for Second Amendment opponents that could allow President-elect Barack Obama's choice for attorney general – Eric Holder – to "ban guns at will" despite the 2008 affirmation from the U.S. Supreme Court that U.S. citizens have a right to bear arms. The situation was described with alarm by Alan Korwin, author of Gun Laws of America, in a recent commentary.

5/23/2008 From rust belt to innovation zone
Here is a tonic for what ails North America's depressed industrial heartland. "The opportunity is real for the Great Lakes region to forge a new economic leadership position and serve anew as a model for world economic and social innovation," says the Brookings Institution. The Washington think-tank, respected for its solid, non-partisan research, has just released a report entitled The Vital Connection: Reclaiming Great Lakes Economic Leadership in the Bi-National U.S.-Canadian Region. Its lead author, John Austin of the University of Michigan, argues that Ontario, Quebec and the 12 American states in the Great Lakes basin can build a bright economic future, provided they shake off their despondency and recognize the assets they've been overlooking.

6/1/2001 Community (Communist) Oriented Policing: The consensus (dialectic) process
There is a myth that communism is dead and that the cold war is over. Nothing could be further from the truth. The problem is that few people today understand what communism really is and just where the cold war battle lines are actually drawn. Crack open a dictionary and look up the term “Dialectical Materialism.” You should find something like this: “A philosophy founded by Karl Marx… which forms the basis of Communist doctrine: it combines the materialistic idea of matter over mind with the Hegalian dialectic in which opposing forces are constantly being reunited at a higher level.” --Webster Dictionary But that definition might beg the question, “What is the Hegelian dialectic?” For modern man, the answer to that question is epic. The Hegelian dialectic has profoundly impacted the world in which you live.

Transformational Marxists such as Kurt Lewin refined their weapon for the new battlefield: Using group dynamics to invade the culture to affect the paradigm shift. The weapon looks like this: 1. A Diverse Group (“Diversity” needed for conflict) 2. Dialoging to Consensus (Dialectic process) 3. Over a Social Issue (Problem/Crisis/Issues) 4. In a Facilitated Meeting (Controlled environment using facilitator/change agent) 5. To a Predetermined Outcome (Paradigm shift)
